Head wraps - Tino Rangatiratanga print
Here at Nichola, we are always looking at ways to reduce our impact on Papatūānuku (Mother Earth), by making better choices around materials and processes and by reusing and reducing our waste. These head wraps are an example of us reducing our waste. They are off-cuts from several garments we make here at Nichola HQ.
Head wraps are made from Modal, Viscose and spandex mix, cotton t.shirting and cotton knit fabrics.
We have printed (using water based fabric paint) our Tino Rangatiratanga design on them using a wood printing technique, which gives each garment a unique and individualise flavour, as it is handprinted and no two are exactly alike.
About the design:
Tino Rangatiratanga: Projects the power that is absolute sovereignty. This is encapsulated in the maunga design as being resolute and steadfast in its environment. The repetition of the design embedded in the tāniko framework is a reminder that our absolute sovereignty and determination is ours uniquely in many landscapes and forms.
Our fabulous model Arby has styled the head wraps in a variety of styles as shown in our photos. She has a video (IG TV) on her Instagram @arbybarby
