Pāpā

This year we decided to create a limited edition Pāpā (father) lamp to celebrate all the amazing tāne/Pāpā we have out there in our whānau (family).

These lamps are made up of three panels (one front and two sides) and you can purchase it with a light base (that sits inside it) or you can provide your own and the lamp cover sits over it.

We have created two different designs:

1. Pāpā + Whānau: this lamp is cut entirely from bamboo and has our tangata (person) pattern on it, which represents the whānau.

2. Pāpā + Tupuārangi (Kākā Pōria): this lamp is a blend of bamboo and green tint perspex.  The pattern on the front panel has our Kākā pōria pattern on it, which are small leg rings usually fashioned from bone or stone such as pounamu. This was so that the birds could become mōkai (pet) which were then used to help hunt more Kākā birds. The whakaaro (thought) behind using this design is about being a provider, not only of kai, but a provider of security, aroha (love), mana (prestige) and all the things we feel when our Pāpā are around. The patterns within the kākā pōria link to matariki by using elements of nine.

The side panels for this option is our tangata pattern.

Lamp details:

Size: 51cm x 18cm (per panel - made of bamboo and/or perspex). Lamp consists of three panel and is joined with cable ties.

Lamp material: Carbonised bamboo & green tint perspex

Lamp base: You can choose to either have the lamp cover on its own (and supply your own lamp base to sit inside it OR we can send you a lamp base with your lamp cover. We get our lamp bases from living and co.

Care Instructions: Do not put lamp in direct sunlight or near heat. Only use energy saving or low heat bulb inside it.

**Please note we do not provide the bulbs**
