Print Design: Kākā Pōria are small leg rings traditionally fashioned from bone or stone, such as pounamu. They were fitted to trained mōkai (pet) kākā, which were used to attract wild kākā during bird harvesting. We associate this pattern with Tupuārangi, one of the stars in the Matariki cluster, as Tupuārangi is connected to birds and food gathered from above. 

The pattern within the kākā pōria incorporates elements of nine, representing the nine stars of Matariki.

Style: You can wear this cape several ways, off the shoulder, with the neck rolled up and as a hooded cape, shown in our photos.

Model: Our model is wearing size Rua (14 - 16) who is approx 173cm in height.

Sizing is as follows:

TAHI: Size (10 - 12 size)

RUA: Size (14 - 16 size)

TORU: Size (18 - 20 size)

WHA: Size (22 - 24 size)

Fabric details:

Designed and made here in New Zealand, Fabric sourced from a local supplier (but imported from overseas). Fabric is a wool blend (80% wool 20% viscose) fabric.

Care instructions: 

We recommend washing all knitwear/wool by hand in cold water.  Do not use any washing detergents that contain bleach. 

Once washed, dry garment flat (on top of a towel on a drying rack is best) do not hang or put in direct sunlight or it will fade and/or lose its shape.
