Discover the perfect fusion of tradition and modern style with our contemporary Hei Tiki earrings.
About the design: Hei Tiki: is worn by some as a tribute to honour tūpuna (ancestors) who previously owned them. Others adorn themselves with it as a sign of tohu rangatira (chiefly status). The first Hei Tiki is believed to have been owned by Hine-te-iwaiwa, the goddess of childbirth and feminine duties, leading many women to wear it for fertility and safe childbirth. Additionally, it is widely regarded as a kaitiaki (protector), offering safeguarding to those who wear it during dangerous times. Hei Tiki is also said to symbolise the human form and represents a link between generations and some believe Tiki was the first man in Māori legend, created by Tāne Mahuta (God of the forest).
