Kaupapa behind the design: Hinepūkohurangi (The Mist Maiden)

An atua of quiet strength, Hinepūkohurangi is the essence of Tūhoetanga, cloaked in beauty, grounded in whenua, dressed by the kohu (mist).

Each night she would bathe in the puna at Ōnini with her sister Hinewai — a sacred place nestled deep in the heart of Te Urewera. There, beneath a blanket of stars, they shared laughter, kōrero, and sisterhood.

Her presence is soft, her mana undeniable, and her voice like waiata on the wind, calling out..

It was this call that drew Te Maunga from the heavens.
Not just by her beauty, but by the depth of her spirit.
